With some of the biggest names in Tinseltown roaming around Boston during the
Democratic National Convention, we all might have thought that we were on a Hollywood
set. Or at least in New York. But even with the stars having returned home, Boston’s
film scene is booming.
Freedom Park, a movie shot in Central Mass. About two
men attempting to pay off a gambling debt by wagering on Little League games
is set to open in theaters in Belmont, West Newton, and Amesbury September 10.
Local filmmakers also have a knack for suspense. Starting in late August, Arlington’s
Regent Theatre will screen the premier of The Killing Hand, about a band of thieves
who conspire to take over the streets of Lowell (where the film was shot).
Finally,
this fall, Road Rambler Films is set to begin shooting Street
Players, a story
about a Boston man who wages a war of vengeance on the local mob.
