THE PLAYER— Former Bruins strongman Lyndon Byers was a few yours late arriving
on the set (actually a closed Santarpio's restaurant in East Boston) for his
scenes in the low-budget film “Street Players,” which is being shot
around the Boston area over the next couple of weeks.
Byers was fresh off his morning sports duties on the FM radio station WAAF, and
until he strode in with his posse, the movie was true to its shooting schedule. “It’s
been moving along nicely,” said John Fitzgerald of Road Rambler Films,
which is making the crime drama that centers on the Boston mob
Fitzgerald said the support of the local community has been substantial and a
pleasant surprise. “We had so many trucks and crew outside Santarpio’s
it looked like we were shooting a big-budget feature. In fact, some of the local
unions called wanting to know what we were doing. It’s been great.”
